Absolutely I do. That was the average Solstice celebration with my family, assuming things went well. A fair amount of corporate parties I went to as well, though calling them parties also feels like slighting the very idea of having fun.
Not to say that there isn't a place for things like that, of course. It's just not my favorite way to spend my time, you know?
But yes, Silco and I have met a few times. He's a rotten old (?) bastard, I say in a more complimentary sense than a derogatory one. Funnily enough, he was responsible for my very first little crystalline addition back when we went hunting for Katalyth in the woods all those months ago.
Nothing to worry about, to be clear. Just surprising it would be from him. It's a "fun" thing about my Golem-Protoframe hybrid self where an intense feeling from someone else seems to make a crystal grow in a matching location.
Exactly. I'm not much of a partier myself but I'd rather spend my time doing something I prefer to do than to try to engage in pomp and pageantry. I had to do it enough for work and, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed being able to work a room. But at some point, the conversations are tiresome. They grow stale. So many people don't change. I can only hear so many conversations about trade revenue.
[ Also, uh, what? Crystal addition??? ]
He's an interesting man, I'll give him that. I don't mind his perspective at times but he's so mired in what was that he's also unwilling to change.
[ And a part of her feels he shouldn't have to, necessarily. Piltover had burned him, crushed him. Why should he need to change? But his over-reliance on violence, drugs, and control... No, that was something she couldn't abide by, even if she didn't have any alternatives on hand. She offered to help look for something and he'd turned her down, which also wasn't surprising.
She sighs. ]
Despite being interesting, I wouldn't want a growth because of him. Where is this crystal, exactly? Is it not painful?
Right? And that's why we'll go tear it up (metaphorically speaking). It's the thing I like about clubs, honestly. You *can* talk, but really the point is just dancing. It makes it easy to make friends for just a night, yeah?
As for Silco, well. Slightly sorry that the conversation turned away from the fun of dancing, but it's always a little surprising when I find out people knew each other beforehand. I don't know if that makes your home very lucky or very unlucky. Or just very interesting, as you say.
He's definitely intense, to put it lightly. I try and keep my distance, since he's very much one of the people that's not a fan of what I can do.
[ Like, he definitely thought intensely about murdering her just to make a point. Dramatic. She doesn't share this though, since she doesn't want Mel to worry on her behalf. If Silco every tried anything, she'd squish him like a bug. ♥ ]
The crystal is on my abdomen. We had a bit of a mind-meld situation, and I experienced a not so cheery moment in his life where he was injured there. Growing it was a bitch and a half, but weirdly, it doesn't hurt at all now. It's just kind of there, same as any of my Protoframe parts. I had the same experience with our giant squidly friend, but I'm more fond of that crystal.
No, it's all right. Silco's just that sort of person.
[ The kind that needs someone keeping an eye on them somehow. She trusts Takasugi would tell her if something's happened but... ]
Oh, I'm certain he abhorred that. You thought I was particularly cautious; he's something else entirely. I didn't realize he'd been injured there. He certainly doesn't carry himself as if he was.
[ Unlike the eye, which is plain to see. ]
I'm glad it no longer hurts you. What an awful experience. But...you did meet with the squid? I had wanted to speak to someone about it. Him? Her? I'm not certain of the gender. But I wanted to be certain it wouldn't potentially interfere in a project of mine.
[ It’s also why she’s not dishing on that injury, since it hadn’t actually been one at all. But she’d promised Silco that she wouldn’t share, and she’d meant it. It’s part of her personal ethics that she’d explained—that “injury” was something so deeply personal that Eleanor felt bad about witnessing it. Even for Silco. ]
But on a happier note (more or less), yes, I did. Set and I managed to chat with it, so much as we’re able. He provides a little translation for the squidly parts, since he can speak with animals, and I provide the conduit to actually have a conversation.
Genderwise, I’ve settled on “them”, simply because I don’t think they rightly know either. The poor dear is all scrambled, but it’s not hostile like the plants we encountered recently. Just terribly lonely and loud about it. It’s a bit like that saying where it doesn’t know its own strength, you know?
What project were you working on? I’d guess they wouldn’t interfere, since Set and I do try and go say hello to the dear when we can, but I can also try and put in a good word, potentially?
So long as they're all right. I heard it was quite a fraught thing. Someone I know was injured getting too close to the bridge edge but he seems to be fine now. If the squid is neutral and not interested in harming any of us, then all the better.
I'm hoping to see about cleaning out the old homes on the Karteria side and to return any items to their potential owners. And then to remake the bridge city, if allowed, if the former inhabitants who are still around are all right with it.
At some point, many of the Augmented may not be palatable to Karterians. Worse, I've witnessed some of them losing control. Having somewhere that they can stay, even temporarily — which means we'll need something like the barrier — will give them safety and dignity. But I don't want to infringe on the squid's territory, either, and the bridge itself is in dire need of repairs, especially too close to Kelesis.
