There is one other thing. He does not seem to know Choso. The other man we lived with. The third member of our team. This is troubling because they knew each other before coming here. Gojo bore some sort of grudge against him for something he was involved with in their own world.

It's not something that he would forget. So I believe the most likely explanation is that it simply has not happened for him yet.
Jayce Talis has a theory that we are not at fixed linear points when we remember things. That the versions of us who are here are 'branched off' from our lives back home, that perhaps we are technically still there. Another version of us. It could be the same for Gojo.
But if he doesn't remember something that he confirmed to you... I agree, it sounds as if that moment hasn't happened. I have an ally here that encountered a similar situation. A companion from home appeared with memories from several years ago and nothing more recent.

What troubles me most in all of this is the thought that there is still, somewhere in Patho-Gen's keeping, a Gojo who succumbed to his corruption. I do not feel that I can forsake him and I do not want to replace him, even though they are technically the same person.

And I would not think of it as replacement. The logistics of it are complicated, of course, but this is someone who is a blank slate for you and for him. So long as you are willing to support him, whether at his side or from afar, I do not see it as forsaking either of them.

It's been a challenge, certainly, but many people I've become allied with are Carnivora and so I've been aware of what changes I'd likely have so far. Otherwise it's been...very odd, I suppose. My two souls, at least, are symbiotic in nature. There's much they agree on.
